Welcome to Room 11

Welcome to Room 11's blog.  We will show you some of the things that we have been doing in our class at Havelock North Primary, but first we will show what we did last term.

DISCOVERY  LEARNING - FEBRUARY

Creating with clay was popular.

While others persevered with construction.

Lots of glueing and cutting.

Some tried their hand at face painting.

The children had to do it all on their own by looking in a mirror.

Mrs A had her hair shaved off for charity and the children made her hats to keep her head protected.

The mini laptops were VERY popular in Room 9.

There was art and craft in Room 10 with Mrs O.

Why do you think the children are wearing ear muffs?

T E A M WO R K!

THE  MONARCH CATERPILLARS - FEBRUARY
From this ....
to this......

Then this.... in just 20 minutes!!
We had a lot of caterpillars and not a lot of food.

THE  ROCKY  SHORE  AND  AQUARIUM  TRIP - APRIL

On the way to Napier.

We had morning tea at the Rocky Shore at Ahuriri.

Carol told us about some of the creatures we would find.

Here is the Rocky Shore. It was low tide.

We lifted up rocks and picked up little sea creatures. It was great fun exploring.

We had to be careful not to get wet feet.

"Hey! I think I found a crab."

"Oooh. What did you find?"

"I can hop over these rocks without getting wet."

Look at this little crab.

Here is a beautiful pin cushion starfish.

We found so many creatures in the rock pools but had to put them back before we left.

KELLY  SPORTS
At the beginning of the year we all had a go at doing Kelly Sports to see if we would like it. It was GREAT  fun!!!

"Are you ready? Set? Go!!!"

Catch the ball in the net.

The Rugby relay.

STRIKE!

This was the band STRIKE that we went to see. They played percussion instruments. This is a very big xylophone.

There were lots of different instruments.

This was sooo cool! But it was VERY  NOISY!!!!

LOOKING  AFTER  YOUR  HEARING
In the last week of the term, Carloynne came to talk about looking after our hearing.

We learnt about how sound vibrates on little hairs inside your ears.

This was lots of fun but we learnt about caring for our ears too.

GRANT  HASTINGS
Last term we also learnt to throw underarm, overarm and catch.

Watch the ball.
You should catch a ball with crocodile hands.

Some of us had to move further and further apart because we got so good.

 THE  LAST  DAY OF TERM
The whole school has been put into Houses. The houses are Joll, Campbell, Duart and Chambers.
We dressed up in the colour of our house. It was a great day.

Say CHEESE!!!

We had some unusual looking teachers that day. We wonder where our old teachers went?
