Maths Week

There were lots of exciting things going on at the school during Maths Week - Guess the jellybeans.  How many senior students would fit in Mrs Burns' little red car.  How long it took Mrs Cameron to run around the field twice.  The weetbix challenge with Mr Harris, Mr Kinsey and Mr Stygall.

In class we were learning to tell the time and had to draw our own clocks.

Step 1 - Thread twelve groups of five beads
Step 2 - Make the beads into a circle and trace onto
paper marking every 5th bead

Step 3 - Write the numbers on the clock

Step 4 - Colour in each 5 minutes

Step 5 - Fold and cut into quarters

Teamwork

Today the children did some cooperative work with puzzles.  Each table was given a puzzle to complete.  It was interesting to see the group dynamics and which children took charge and organised the team.  There were various strategies as to how to accomplish their tasks, and it was good to see children discussing these as a group.

Shelter Inquiry Presentations

As you all know our inquiry learning topic was Shelter - Do all living things need shelter?  The children came up with lots of different types of shelter for their projects.  We have learned about shelter for animals, shelter for people, shelter for insects and seen some great presentations.  We are thinking about and asking questions to further our learning.  The children especially enjoyed spending time researching and making their shelter presentations.

Here are some examples of the children's work.
